The basic comparison

Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) Compared to EOS 350D (Digital Rebel XT)Though the canon 300D is very useful for professional photography, it has some boundaries. To get rid of those obstacles canon has launched the newer version of EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) and named EOS 350D (Digital Rebel XT). There has been made some differences which bring some improvement in the EOS 350D over the earlier model. The Canon EOS 300D was of 6.3 Mega pixel whereas the latest one comes with 8.0 Mega pixel. The Auto Focus mode is not available with the canon EOS 300D but the canon EOS 350D powered with Auto Focus option. You can also capture the images even in Black and White on a canon EOS 350d. The canon 300D does not provide the option for taking black and white photos. The weight and dimension of two of these cameras also differ. The newer model is 485 grams and126.5x94.2x64 mm whereas the canon 300D is 560 grams and 142x99x72.4 mm. Comparing the USB port the canon EOS 350D is also considered as the best. The Canon EOS 300D comes with 1.1 USB whereas the advanced model provides you with USB 2.0 port ensuring faster data transfer. The two of the cameras again contain two different types of batteries. The EOS 350D comes with NB-2LH battery but the older model is powered by BP-511/512 battery.

The Software and Other Accessories

The canon EOS 300D comes with canon Digital Photo Professional or Canon DPP and canon Zoom Browser software that enable the RAW images to be converted into JPEG and TIFF format. The camera is also adjustable with the option of Remote Shooting and it empowers you to control the shots from the computer itself. The Arc Soft Photo Studio software works as an image editor and provides you with many editing and processing options. Besides the mentioned software the canon 350D kit comes with EF-S18-55 mm F3.5-F5.6 lens. The complete kit of the camera also contains Battery charger, Neck strap, USB cable, video cable, Lithium-Ion battery pack and an Eyecup.

The LCD monitor of the camera is of 1.8 inches and has TFT color option. The camera has a special feature which facilitates you to delete one or all the images from the memory. Though the measurement of total pixels is about 8.2 Mega pixels, only 8.0 Mega pixels are counted to be effective. The canon EOS 300D equipped with an effective CMOS sensor as well. A filter is located in front of the sensor which works as a protector. It can capture RAW and JPEG images at the same time and thus it adds one more step towards its versatility. Besides Auto Focus and Manual Focus option, the camera also supports AI Servo and AI Focus mode. The AI servo mode can automatically anticipate the movement of any object which is as much as 10 meter away and moving at a seed of 50 kilometer/hour. Thus it enables the photographer to captures images of any moving object. Once the movement of the object has been tracked, AI Focus mode starts to operate and take the shots of the object in kinetic as well as static condition. The shutter of the camera is automatically controlled and has a speed of 1/4000 to 30 sec. Thus it ensures to capture the images in faster speed. The super effective flash of the camera indicates its readiness through a flash ready icon in the viewfinder. There are White Balance Bracketing or WB-BKT and seven existing White Balance settings in the camera. These two things enable the photographer to adjust the image color with the real object accurately. Being a market leader in manufacturing and marketing the digital camera, canon has introduced DIGIC II image processor. Since image processor plays an important role for developing a better quality of the image, DIGIC II or Digital Image Core performs this task perfectly. The USB 2.0 on EOS 350D enables faster access of the image on the computer for further editing, storage or post processing of the images.

Which One Is a Better Fit For You?

On the basis of comparison between these two cameras and some advantageous features of the Canon EOS 350D; one can simply feel its superiority. Being lighter and smaller by 10 per cent and 25 per cent respectively the canon EOS 350D dominates over the canon EOS 300D. Not only the more Mega pixels that make the canon EOS 350D better than the EOS 300D, there are some additional functions and features that also responsible for its popularity. The superiority of the canon EOS 350D does not stop over here. The star-up time of the camera is just about some fractions of second while the canon EOS 300D takes as much as two seconds to start up completely. Therefore you need not to wait for long time to make your camera ready for shooting. A professional photographer sometimes comes across some scene that will not last long. If you have an EOS 350D in your photography arsenal, then you will hardly miss such wonderful situation to capture with your camera. Because of certain technical developments, the Canon EOS 350D may seem little complicated to you. But being a first time user of the EOS 350D, you can not realize the superiority of the camera. The difference can be measured and felt only if you have used the canon EOS 300D earlier. The canon EOS 350D takes the shots of the images in JPEG and RAW format simultaneously. Thus it does not restrict you to one single type of image. Rather you get an opportunity to experiment with your talent and creativity. By using the canon EOS 350D you can access the images even through television sets and mobile communication. But canon EOS 300D enables you to access and edit the RAW images through computer only. Taking into account the superiority of the EOS 350D, it can be considered as one of the best entry level digital SLR cameras on the market today. But if you are looking for a less complicated digital SLR with afore mentioned features and you are on a tight budget then you can go for EOS 300D but sooner or later you have to upgrade to EOS 350D not to mention EOS 400D which is canon’s recent upgrade of this product line. EOS 350D features worth the upgrade by all means.
