Canon PowerShot

The Canon PowerShot line of cameras features everything from compact, user-friendly point and shoot digital cameras to high-end, high resolution digital cameras.

Point and Shoot

Canon has introduced at least 17 digital point and shoot models for all kinds of consumers. Each of these devices features a different package, from number of megapixels to special shooting modes, cool colors and more. High-End

Expanded for greater control and creative capabilities, the COOLPIX STYLE series provides additional photographic functions and settings all contained within a sleek and attractive, super-slim camera body. All of these cameras feature 6.0 megapixels. The COOLPIX STYLE series comprises the S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 and S6 models. Price range for cameras in this series is $349.95 through $449.95.

Sony's Cyber-shot point and shoot models include Cyber-shot DSC-W70, DSC-W100, DSC-S600, DSC-W30, DSC-W50, DSC-P200, DSC-P200/R and DSC-W7. Prices range from about $199.95 to $349.95.

 

Ultra-Compact

You know those itty-bitty digital cameras that claim to be the size of a deck of cards or a credit card? This is that line. Sony's Cyber-shot line ultra-compact models pack a lot of power into small, portable and attractive digital cameras. The Cyber-shot DSC-T9, for example, is only 5/8" thin. The Cyber-shot DSC-T5 is available in a range of colors, from silver to red, gold or black. And for being so small, many of these models also feature a 2.5 or three-inch LCD screen.

The Sony Cyber-shot ultra-compact line includes the Cyber-shot DSC-T5, DSC-T7, DSC-T9 and DSC-N1. Price range for these models is from $349.95 to $499.95.

Full-Featured

Sony Cyber-shot full-featured digital cameras offer a wide range of high impact features, like remarkable 10.3 megapixel resolution in some models to 12x optical zoom in others. Image stabilization and tilting 2.5 or three-inch LCD screens are just gravy. Pricing in this line of products begins around $399.95 and $499.95, increasing up to around $999.95.

Sony's line of full-featured Cyber-shot cameras includes the Cyber-shot DSC-H1, DSC-H2, DSC-H5/B, DSC-H5, DSC-M2 and DSC-R1. At the top of the full-featured line, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 comprises a great digital camera package, including 10.3 megapixels, 5x optical zoom lens, free-angle two-inch LCD screen and much more, starting at $999.95.

 

As with any decision process, the best method of choosing the best digital camera for you may be to make a list of pros and cons, or make a priority list of the most important features you desire. Comparing based on pricing and available functions and settings may help you to make an informed decision. Finally, before you plunk down the cash for a new digital camera, don't forget to test it in the store to be sure you like it.

I use this camera for bird photography. Only 1 complaint. It zooms to 24X wich is VERY good. My only complaint is the meadowlark and flicker won't let me get close enough to get a good picture!
